(using Monospace font (DejaVu Sans Mono, I guess))
0x2025 TWO DOT LEADER '‥'
is in the middle (should be lying on the bottom), sticks out on the right side
0x291e RIGHTWARDS ARROW TO BLACK DIAMOND '⤞'
sticks out on the right side (wider than it should be)
0x226b MUCH GREATER-THAN '≫'
is just to big, sticks out on the right side

the screenshoted file
Reassigning to pango.
DejaVuSansMono doesn't cover those characters, so you get it from another font. Expected behavior as far as Pango's concerned. Please file with DejaVu fonts.
any idea which font is that (since you say DejaVuSansMono doesn't cover those)?
I'm using fedora 13
Don't know. You can figure out by running 'pmap' on the process and grep'ing for "fonts".
that helped. most likely it's VL Gothic Regular.
so where should I file bugs to get this solved?
Gedit for using bad font?
DejaVu for not providing glyphs?
VL Gothic bugzilla for providing badly proportionate glyphs?
Fedora since it's my distribution?
Please report to DejaVu. It's on freedesktop bugzilla.
thanks for help
