Description Ben Konrath 2011-05-17 10:13:16 UTC
Currently Online Glom uses a Popup window to prompt for the database username and password if they are not set in the configuration file or are not correct. This should to be changed to a proper configuration page.

I would like to add the glom document logo and title above the table selection ListBox. If the database username / password are not set or correct, the configuration page would be loaded with the glom document logo and title in the same position at the top. This makes it obvious to the user which document they are configuring. The should probably be a way for the user to get to this page if they want to change things manually.

The configuration page only needs to have database username and password fields to start with but other things can be added as they are needed. Perhaps read-only information could be presented as well (e.g. the database name).

I am also generally uncomfortable with having the configuration file in the .war because, to get it in the .war, it is typically edited as part of the regular source code.

Is this normal? Can't we at least have a separate configuration file, regardless of whether there is an admin web UI?

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glom/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
