Description dpelino 2001-11-21 07:13:04 UTC
Package: panel
Version: 1.4.0.4
Severity:

>Synopsis: Panel crashes as soon as the graphical interface tries to load after loging in every time
>Class: sw-bug
System: pentium 166, epox P55-IT motherboard, Number Nine 128 ticket to ride video card, Quantum Bigfoot 6 Gb harddrive, Redhat 7.2 with everything loaded except SMP Kernel

>Description:
I've tried reloading the system a few times and it consistently
has the "panel" crash as soon as I login and the graphical
interface tries to load. I've tried changing the video settings
(Xconfigurator) but this does not seem to help. I've downloaded
Radhat 7.2 from 2 different mirror sites and this also does not
seem to be making a difference.

>How-To-Repeat:
Load Redhat 7.2 with everything except the SMP Kernel. English for
language, US 105 keyboard, serial mouse (did not load the 3 buttom emulation),
loaded all of the support languages, Mag Innovision DX15F monitor, Number Nine
Revolution 3D WRAM 4Mb PCI video card (Redhat see's it as a Number Nine Imagine 128 T2R (ticket to ride PCI))
Floppy drive, Creative labs CD-Rom drive Infra 5400, no souind card, 80 Mb Ram (2 - 32 Mb
sticks and 2 - 8 Meg sticks / I also tried it with just the 2 - 32 MB sticks), either
8 bit - 1024 X 760 or 640 X 480 video resolution (These are the 2 settings it will accept) ...
After the system is loaded boot the system and login... As soon as the graphical interface
tries to load the error message, saying that the panel has crashed, comes up and a pop up
window telling me to go to the Gnome application crash page.

"Application "Panel" (process 1598) has crashed
due to a fatal error.
(Segementation Fault)
Please visit the gnome Application Crash page for more information

While the system is booting up I get 2 warnings
1) Make: *** Warning: 'makefile' has modifications in the future (2001-08-31 08:29:19 > 1999-12-14 06:13:31)
2) Make: Warning: Clock skew detected. Your build may be incomplete
 Make: Leaving directory '/etc/mail'
It also seems to take a long time "starting xfs:"
