GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 650180
Looking under a dialog box.
Last modified: 2013-06-14 16:27:36 UTC
Every once and a while you need to look under a dialog box to cut/paste or just see some content. (note this sort of thing isn't happening enough to justify undocking the dialog, which is why I'm suggesting the enhancement below) Since the box is locked to the title bar and can't be moved, I had suggested we have some type of hide. In the gnome-shell discussion someone came up with this, which I really like. 1) the dialog is solid when first appears 2) if you move the mouse over it and then out, the dialog fades enough to let you see what's under it 3) if you press a special key like control the dialog goes completely transparent and let you select content under it (maybe does make sense to show its outline Any chance we can get this implemented in Gnome 3?
(In reply to comment #0) > 2) if you move the mouse over it and then out, the dialog fades enough > to let you see what's under it That sounds highly confusing when triggered accidentally, for example if you move out of the dialog because you doubt the decision you were about to make (think of double-checking a file you are about to overwrite).
What about just having a hot key for it then.
Just want to say that this is a more generic form of bug 650239.
