GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 649176
QT app icons are one pixel in notification area
Last modified: 2011-10-14 05:22:34 UTC
When I'm running skype, icon in notification area is 1x1 pixel size, same for VLC. I think other QT apps have the same problem. If I remove notification area applet and add it again, icons appear at normal size. Reproduces every time for me, few others reported random behavior. Corresponding ubuntu bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/skype/+bug/764828 OS: Ubuntu 11.04 natty, Classic mode. Gnome-Panel 1:2.32.1-0ubunbu6.4 Skype 2.2.0.25-1maverick1 VLC 1.1.9-1ubuntu1
Why do you think that this is a gnome-panel bug?
Because it's the only related thing that changed in natty. VLC and skype versions are the same as in maverick.

Nearly sure this is one of the bugs I fixed in GNOME 3.0. So if someone can check with GNOME 3.0 in fallback mode, that'd be great.

Vincent, so what if it is? This needs to be fixed in 2.32. it's a serious regression, please expedite the fix.

Someone would need to check it does fix this issue, that it works fine, and that it introduces no regression. Volunteers are welcome -- on my side, I'm not focusing my work on 2.32.
(fowarding from lp) Just unlocking the notification area and restarting skype caused the bug to go away. Probably something related to resizing. by Charles
As described in my own Bug-Report ( https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=649280 ), for me it doesn't work most of the time to just restart the application or the program
This bug is fixed for me in Gnome3. "fixed" is not the right word since Gnome3 doesn't appear to run gnome-panel. gnome-shell 3.0.1-0ubuntu1~build1
Shall we close the bug as it seems to be fixed in GNOME3 ?
(In reply to comment #11) > Shall we close the bug as it seems to be fixed in GNOME3 ? I do not think so. It seems Berend did not try the fallback mode in GNOME3, which runs gnome-panel.
Unfortunately I seem to have Gnome2's panel instead of Gnome3's panel... Doh! However, the original Ubuntu bug has today been closed with gnome-panel=>invalid because it was fixed in compiz instead. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-panel/+bug/767095

Closing bug in upstream as it has been closed in downstream.
