GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 649077
Gnome3 is unusable with xrandr-indicator
Last modified: 2011-05-31 02:18:44 UTC
hey, with the xrandr-indicator enabled, gnome3 will not start.. it tells me about an error, that is not handable by gnome.
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. This bug report isn't very useful because it doesn't describe the bug well. If you have time and can still reproduce the bug, please read http://bugzilla.gnome.org/bug-HOWTO.html and add a more useful description to this bug.
the problem is, that i don't know, how to get information about this bug, because i cannot login, if i have installed this extension. after login, i get the message, that some unhandable problem is there and then i have to log in again. if i try to login again, the same message shows up. i hope this helps.if not, please tell me what i have to do to get the information you need. greetings from germany, sebastian
(In reply to comment #2) > i get the message, that some unhandable problem is there What is the *exact* error message?
The exaxt error message (it's german): Leider ist ein Problem aufgetreten. Ein Problem ist aufgetreten, welches vom System nicht behoben werden kann. Bitte melden Sie sich ab und versuchen Sie es erneut. Did you mean that?
Yes, though no idea which module that one comes from...
I have the exact same problem. I'm sorry but no additional error message (except mine is in French).
Ok the error is a standard fail whale, I suppose. You need to grab .xsession-errors instead. But it is very likely that it is a known bug: xrandr-indicator requires a gjs patched for bug 634253
Created attachment 187363 [details] Crash when using xrandr-indicator
Giovanni is right. This is linked to gjs "Only supporting null-terminated arrays of strings"
This was fixed with bfd107cef010418ee8439b222e94128cfe7c3dd2 (require gjs version) This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
