I'm able to get Banshee to transfer music flawlessly to my first generation I-pod Nano. 

However, downloaded podcasts will not transfer. It appears that they do but, in fact, only the title of the podcast appears under "Artists" on the I-pod. Attempting to play the file does nothing.

Banshee is downloading the podcasts as read-only files to the appropriate folder. The files are playable within Banshee. Again, they will not transfer appropriately to the I-pod.
