GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 649048
[Gnumeric] over-translation
Last modified: 2011-11-07 15:32:41 UTC
Created attachment 186949 [details] an exemple of strange display Use the Histogram tool (Statistics -> Descriptives statisctics -> Frequency tables -> Histogram) on any list of numbers, with any cutoffs. I attached a screenshot showing the result. The formulaes are correct, and it seems to be a problem in the quotations marks : I get the values of the cutoffs of the first colunm by changing the format from (« de » * General) to (" de " * General), but the second seems not to have a defined format. I tested it in French on Windows Vista.
This is a translation problem. "\"from\" * General" is a Gnumeric excel-style format string that should have been translated as "\"de\" * General" In fact in all of the following, the double quotation marks should be retained and no extra space should be inserted either. The translated strings need to be valid format strings. #. translator note: do not translate the "General" #. part of the following strings. #: ../src/tools/analysis-histogram.c:180 msgid "\"to below\" * General" msgstr "« en descendant » * General" #: ../src/tools/analysis-histogram.c:180 msgid "\"up to\" * General" msgstr "« en montant » * General" #: ../src/tools/analysis-histogram.c:265 msgid "\"to\" * \"∞\"" msgstr "« à » * « ∞ »" #. translator note: do not translate the "General" part #. of the following strings. #: ../src/tools/analysis-histogram.c:277 msgid "\"from\" * General" msgstr "« de » * General" #: ../src/tools/analysis-histogram.c:277 msgid "\"above\" * General" msgstr "« au dessus » * General" #: ../src/tools/analysis-histogram.c:281 msgid "\"from\" * \"−∞\";\"from\" * \"−∞\"" msgstr "« de » * « −∞ »;« de » * « −∞ »"
