Realize I am a bit late to comment on this, but didn't we try to avoid the 'quicktime' name originally and use 'qt' due to concerns about Apple trademark issues? 'qt' would be a sucky name for plugin though
Comment 4 René Stadler 2011-04-28 20:07:11 UTC
This is indeed going the wrong way a bit. I was thinking about re-branding the whole plugin to primarily advertise "ISO MP4/3GPP" support instead of "QuickTime". Of course historically, the quicktime part was there first perhaps, but since this was meanwhile standardized it makes more sense to put that "free" part into the spotlight. Legal departments probably get really nervous about the qt/quicktime "stigma" that this plugin has written all over.
Comment 5 David Schleef 2011-04-28 20:34:02 UTC
As long as it's being changed already, it makes sense to call it "isomp4" now.

Wasn't it you who made fun of me when I suggested something like that on IRC the other day ? ;-)

isomp4 works for me, I'll rename it if there are no better suggestions (isobase* is just too unwieldy I guess).

Probably. Sorry about that.
