Description Steve Griff 2011-04-11 13:52:07 UTC
Hello there,

I'm using Wine to use two applications/games:

1) PokerStars
2) Rift

Playing Rift, the CPU usage of gnome-shell jumps up to around 70%, and soon after, something triggers Xorg to start using around 80% too, making the game unplayable. Booting up Xorg with only twm, I don't notice any slowdown issues.

With PokerStars, if I move to a second workspace, Gnome Shell locks up, restarting X is the only way to go. After using PokerStars for over half an hour or so, gnome-shell starts using around 30% - 50% CPU. Restarting gnome-shell gets rid of this CPU issue, but after a while the usage starts going up again.

I'm using the nvidia propierty drivers. I don't notice any slowdown when using Gnome 3 Shell when not playing Pokerstars or Rift.

Would you like anymore information?

Kind Regards,

Steve

It's been five years and I don't see any other reports of this issue, so closing as obsolete. Do let us know if it's still an issue though.
