GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 647390
File -> Properties on a right clicking on the desktop hangs nautilus
Last modified: 2011-09-07 07:09:46 UTC
When attempting to associate the file type to a program to open it using Nautilus 3.0 as part of GNOME 3.0, it hangs nautilus. You have to kill it and restart.
Clicking on the properties of a file on the desktop works fine here. What are the exact steps to reproduce this bug for you?
I replied to the email you sent but it ain't showing up here so here goes again: If I setup Nautilus using the gnome-tweak-tool to have it draw the Desktop showing all files, launchers, etc on the Desktop and attempt to right-click on one of the files and from the pop-up menu select "Properties", the result is Nautilus will hang. Upon doing a strace of nautilus before doing this operation, I see that the last thing it does is open and parse: /usr/share/mime/text/plain.xml part of shared-mime-info-0.90.34.1 Is this broken?
Created attachment 185769 [details] nautilus 3.0 strace illustrating hang for file -> Properties selection
3.0.2 still hangs when right-click -> properties
I can't reproduce in nautilus 3.1.3 or maybe I'am doing wrong. please, can you add the exacts steps? thank
