Description Jeff Bailes 2011-04-09 08:26:14 UTC
Using Nautilus 3.0.0
I changed the keyboard shortcut to delete files from Ctrl+Delete to just Delete since it is far more comfortable for me.

But now if I hit F2 to rename a file, if I hit delete to delete selected text, the text is not deleted and the file is moved to the trash. You can then continue to edit the filename as expected (delete now works), but when you finish renaming an error says:
"The item could not be renamed."
"There is no "" in this folder. Perhaps it was just moved or deleted?"

Expected Behaviour:
The delete file shortcut is not activated while a file rename is in progress.

Other Info:
Distribution: Arch Linux

This is a very serious regression as pointed out by some other dudes:

http://mail.gnome.org/archives/desktop-devel-list/2011-May/msg00535.html

In short, "Ctrl+Del" is totally non-intuitive while "Del" is. I don't even understand why would someone change it at all but I hope there was some kind of rationale behind this decision?
Comment 7 André Klapper 2011-05-22 16:48:51 UTC
Zeeshan: Erm, no. Plus it looks like you commented on the wrong bug report anyway here.
See https://bugzilla.gnome.org/page.cgi?id=fields.html#importance for an explanation of the fields "severity" and "priority". Resetting.

Yikes, I misread what Cosimo wrote on that d-d-l thread and then only read the first paragraph here. Double fail on my side, sorry!
