GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 646981
Should select the current background when opening
Last modified: 2021-06-09 16:08:49 UTC
The background panel currently shows the 'Wallpapers' selection page when it's opened; I think it should pre-select the current background image instead.
Makes sense to me
There are chances the background isn't available in any of the sections. Looking for the backrgound would also make the UI look weird when we load all the wallpapers async. Oh, and finally, because we don't have access to the original XML file for backgrounds, you won't be able to match selected background to their original.
All that sounds like bugs to me. All the other panels we have come up showing the current state of the settings they control. Background should, too.

It would also be nice if when we have a background color selected, the "Colors" section is shown instead of the "Wallpapers" section.
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new bug report at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
