If you have a configuration for a seen AP, but with a bad WEP key (or similar), I should be able to fix it by selecting that network in the AP dropdown, and clicking on 'options'.

However, I can't, because 'Options' isn't active until it actually connects.

This is also necessary for configuring, for example, a new connection that has defaulted to DHCP but for which the network being connected to has no DHCP server. In this situation one cannot configure a static IP for the connection without manually running nm-connection-editor.
