GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 644862
gnome-terminal gets littered with shadows
Last modified: 2011-03-17 15:51:00 UTC
Created attachment 183470 [details] Screenshot & annotation of problem Problem: gnome-terminal gets littered with dark shadows after various events. Events include pressing enter (area near prompt gets shadowed), pressing space for a bit and enter (cell in last column on line gets shadowed), pressing many spaces and enter (same as previous, plus entire next line gets shadowed), unmapping a window (area where window was gets shadowed). Clearing the screen with ^L clears the screen of shadows. The issue doesn't happen for all background colors. To reproduce: Start gnome-terminal Set background color to #A88858 Press space a few times and then enter. Observe shadows. Attachment: Because the color difference of the shadows is subtle, I did "select by color" in GIMP to make them obvious. I reported this bug to Ubuntu here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/735627 before realizing vte's bugzilla was probably better. DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: gnome-terminal 2.32.0-0ubuntu1
I've just noticed this issue in Firefox, so presumably there's something lower level going on. Closing.
