NM allows locking a connection to a device's MAC address, but expects the user to enter it. Since this would only work on devices detected by NM anyway, it was suggested to provide value suggestions.

Attached is the user-provided mockup. I think it makes sense, however perhaps it could mention the interface name, with mac address in parens?

Yeah, that's basically what we want here.  We could use a the GTK editiable combo box perhaps?  The dropdown would list devices of the type we're interested in.  Of course this would imply that NMConnectionList creates an NMClient object in it's private data and passes that to the NMConnectionEditor when it's created, so that the edit windows can access the device list and grab the MAC and interface name out of it.  That's not too hard though.  Want to have a go at the patch?
