Description glenluscombe 2011-03-06 01:59:57 UTC
Hi,

The following bus was filed against Nautilus in Ubuntu 10.10:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/722494

Binary package hint: nautilus

I have some external drives that are mounted by NFS over a LAN.

If I view the drive/folder in Nautilus, and select any number of files (1 or more), and then delete that file by any method (press delete key, use a drop down menu, right click and select delete...), Nautilus will display a progress bar, and then freeze.

The only way to stop it is to force it to quit. However, after that, unless I reboot, I can not open any new Nautilus windows.

I looked for possible fixes or solutions on the web, and found the suggestion that pressing shift+delete will bypass the trash and avoid this problem. However, this fix does not work for me.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version of Files (nautilus), then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
