Description Andreas Moog 2011-03-04 17:04:55 UTC
From: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/506323

I cannot find any information about the encryption algorithm used to protect the stored passwords. The only hint about any real encryption is output of
$ file ~/.gnome2/keyrings/login.keyring
[...] GNOME keyring, major version 0, minor version 0, crypto type 0 (AEL) [...]

Where is the AEL encryption documented? I guess that this is not just a typo for AES...
Comment 1 Stef Walter 2011-09-15 09:01:36 UTC
That seems like a typo for 'AES' in the file(1) magic file.
Comment 2 Andreas Moog 2011-11-26 19:23:45 UTC
Indeed, it's a bug in the magic file.
