GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 643829
Can't extract files with no unicode character
Last modified: 2020-11-11 19:12:34 UTC
I have zip files with some files with accented characters in its name and file-roller can't extract it. If the file's name is: Canción.wmv file-roller shows: Canci?on I think that the one who create the zip, use non-unicode characters. Then when I want to extract the file I get the following message: caution: filename not matched: Canci\?n.wmv
are you sure the zip not are wrong?
can you extract with other zip program?
I can point that in gnome 2.99.x, with file-roller 2.91.90 this bug is fixed. I've used the same zip file, and extract the file with accent in name, and works well. Please take the action as required, set this bug to fixed or keep it to fix previous versions.
I don't think this is ever fixed. You probably installed p7zip and your ZIP archive is already Unicode enabled.
bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all old bug reports and feature requests in GNOME Bugzilla which have not seen updates for a long time. If you still use file-roller and if you still see this bug / want this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/file-roller/-/issues/ Thank you for creating this report and we are sorry it could not be implemented (volunteer workforce and time is limited).
