GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 643520
Totem stops loading stream after pausing video
Last modified: 2011-04-25 14:59:11 UTC
When I start playing the video from http://www.ta3.com/sk/relacie/23_hlavne-spravy/11086_hlavne-spravy-z-28-februara in a new Totem window outside the browser (Open With Movie Player on the right bottom side) and then pause it, the video stops being loaded from the stream. If I later resume the video it just stops playing after a few seconds and resets to 0:00. Don't know if it's the site or Totem to blame but Totem could have some kind of workaround for this (I read somewhere that Totem should have a video preloading feature but I have yet to notice such a feat).
I can confirm this bug (inside or outside the browser) with Totem 2.32.0. To reproduce it: 1 - With Totem, open and play the movie: mms://streaming.uninettuno.it/streaming//video/0892730d-bef8-479c-8cb2-7d4235dbb16b/Lez014.wmv 2 - Keep it playing the first minute, the click on the "Pause" button. 3 - Keep it paused for (at least) five minutes. 4 - Press "Play" button: it stops after few seconds and go to the beginning of the movie. I hope it can be fixed, because Totem is a great player and it's very important for all Gnome-based distributions, such as Ubuntu. Thank you to all developers!
