Description Colin Scott 2011-02-27 12:02:22 UTC
SUMMARY:

In 2.4.2, the Income Report permits the selection of Asset Accounts, but does not print an Assets section.

COMMENTARY:

1. In 2.3.9, the Income Report would, if Asset accounts were selected, print out an Assets section in the report. Customised Reports created based upon this behaviour now do not work.

2. Whether or not it is formally correct for the Income report to contain an assets section is, perhaps, open to debate, but it does not seem to be appropriate to attempt unilaterally to enforce "correct" procedure, especially as ideas of what is correct may vary wildly from country to country).

3. In any case, it is clearly incorrect behaviour to permit selection of accounts that are not actually included on the report: either they should be included, or it should not be possible to select them.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

Start up Gnucash 2.4.2. using a normal set of accounts. Open the Income Report. Select Options / Accounts. Click under "Report Accounts" the "Select All" button. Note that all Asset accounts are selected. Click under "Filter accounts" the "Clear All" button. Press OK. Examine the resulting report, which will not show any of the selected Asset accounts, nor an assets total.

So nearly 5 years after the bug is reported, it is thought important to change the version number from 2.4.2 to 2.4.x - but not sufficiently important even to evaluate as a bug?

It seems to confirm how right I was to bail out of GnuCash about 4 years ago ...

Nope, bulk housekeeping. Since you no longer care, I'll close this as obsolete.
