Description muntoo 2011-02-24 02:35:26 UTC
Script-Fu makes GIMP start 18 seconds slower on my Vista Home Premium SP2 32-Bit. I asked a question at SuperUser about a month ago:

http://superuser.com/q/238773/53514

... and the problem was fixed by deleting/renaming script-fu.exe inside `\plug-ins`.

In other words I "permanently" disabled Script-Fu.

I don't think Script-Fu should take this long to load. Could you at least provide something like gimp --no-script-fu , or add a menu option to disable specific plugins if you can't speed it up?

Thanks.

The time it takes to start the Script-Fu plug-in and load its scripts is not as important as the percentage of time spent doing so compared to the overall time required to load and initialize GIMP. The time to load and initialize Script-Fu and its scripts has already been reported in bug #374854.

Leaving the bug open until a decision is made about whether a --no-script-fu option would be added.
