GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 642705

Last modified: 2011-10-08 22:25:55 UTC
Created attachment 181262 [details] Title Bar not updating when using scroll wheel. The title bar shows "Untitled Document 1 - gedit". If I open at least two more tabs and use my scroll wheel near the title to flip through the documents, the title bar will sometimes not update the name. I know I'm using 2.30.20, but this is what's default on Ubuntu 10.10. It's a minor problem, but I can repeat it on other computers. I apologize if this is a known bug, but I didn't see it when searching for it. How to repeat: 1. Open gedit. 2. Create a few tabs. 3. Move mouse pointer to the tab bar and use the scroll wheel to change documents. 4. Ctrl+Alt+PgDw (default keypress for next window) also seems to glitch the same way. Todd
Same here. This is a critical issue because of possible data loss. Consider following use case: Two files with similar content and same file names, but in different folders. Edits of the file in the wrong folder can cause confusion, if you often change the tabs (files) in gedit and only rely title information of gedit's window. If you delete a line in one file you could accidently delete it again if gedit tricks you with the title information. See also the screen shot "gedit_bug.png" The title of this bug report could be changed to: "Title Bar displays wrong file names" "Title Bar does not update correct file names" Please consider this as an critical issue, as I already lost valuable lines which were difficult to rewrite.
Created attachment 182708 [details] Wrong title bar in gedit The Title Bar of gedit shows wrong file path information, which is in particular bad when you open two files with equal file names from different folders.
There is no way to use the scroll to change the tabs anymore. Please reopen this bug if you get the bug in another way using gedit >= 3.0.
