GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 642057
Acces imap and smtp server does not work
Last modified: 2011-05-27 07:02:56 UTC
With evolution 2.32.1 I could not access the imap server, because aparently evolution tried to acces the imap server with: "imap://10.101.10.20/limap_custom_headers;use_ssl=never;command=ssh%20-..." which was not selected in the preferences. compare http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=351049. Now I tried to delete all evolution mail accounts and evolution settings, reinstalled evolution, (evolution-2.32.2-r1 - installed from sources under gentoo) The connection to the imap server seems to fail, because evolution does not ask for password, compare http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=354393. Maybe it has also something to do with the network configuration. Evolution is on a computer in a workgroup network (192.168.2.*) the imap and sntp server is in the instute network (10.101.10.*). NAT at the gateway between the workgroup network and the institute network seems to work, at least ping, ssh and web (http) access through the gateway works. Any hint is appreciated.
Thanks for a bug report. This is correct. It has stored there those values, but does not use them. > Now I tried to delete all evolution mail accounts and evolution settings, > reinstalled evolution, (evolution-2.32.2-r1 - installed from sources under > gentoo) > > The connection to the imap server seems to fail, because evolution does not ask > for password, compare http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=354393. I suppose this: > Sie müssen online arbeiten, um diesen Vorgang abzuschließen means that the evolution is not working online. How do you compile evolution, with or without NetworkManager/ConnManager support? Can you choose menu option File->Work Online? If it's disabled, same as bottom left icon, then you compile with one of those managers and it's reporting no connection to the network. If with NetworkManager, then possibly because you do not configure your network interface through it. One option is to remove the Network Manager module, its name is libevolution-module-network-manager.so and I have it located in /usr/lib64/evolution/2.32/modules/. I do not know where you've it on gentoo. Could you try this, and maybe check http://live.gnome.org/Evolution/FAQ too? There are namely: http://live.gnome.org/Evolution/FAQ#Why_is_Evolution_offline_when_my_net_connection_is_working.3F http://live.gnome.org/Evolution/FAQ#Why_is_the_.22Send_.26_Receive.22_button_not_working.3F
Juergen, ping, any update with respect to comment#1 ?
