Description Matt Sturgeon 2011-02-07 02:24:47 UTC
This is a meta bug and should be marked fixed when an automated system to build the banshee MSI (windows setup wizard), and uploaded to the banshee website.

It is marked as a Blocker because it "blocks development and/or testing work" in the form of limiting the Windows testing to a select few.

This bug is mainly here as a target goal, a place for windows release-related discussion, and a place to mark bugs as Depending or Blocking the Windows build/release.

I recommend that the MSI is released from 1.9.4 onwards, marking at at first as 'alpha' quality, and then progressing towards 'stable' as it becomes more even with the linux builds.

Note: Banshee 1.9.4 will be released Wednesday, 23 February, but the release will ofcourse be build before then.
It would be nice to have the build-process good, and the port to windows at reasonable quality by then in order to release during the mid-stage of the lead-up to Banshee 2.0.

Thanks for filing these bugs, it'll make sure we don't miss or forget anything when we do the first release on Windows.

This is not a blocker, development and testing is possible, just more complicated than necessary ;)

Could the person responsible for releasing banshee versions please give their opinion on this?

I am planning to publish a .msi for the 1.9.4 release. Alexander is the primary for the 1.9.4 release, but I'll be working with him.
