Description Charlie Kravetz 2011-02-05 14:13:48 UTC
This bug has been reported on Ubuntu Launchpad as:
 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/476667

Forwarded from the launchpad bug report:

I want to remove the Firefox and Help panel launchers that are available by default. Using mousetweaks, if I long press over any of these icons, instead of the context menu opening, the corresponding application launches.

Architecture: amd64
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10
NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia wl
Package: mousetweaks 2.28.1-0ubuntu1
ProcEnviron:
 LANG=gl_ES.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash

This issue has been reproduced in mousetweaks in Ubuntu 10.10:

mousetweaks 2.32.0-0ubuntu1

I am able to reproduce this issue in a fully updated version of Ubuntu 10.10. By holding the left mouse button down, the application on the panel opens. If It is closed and the button again held on the launcher, the application opens, but the right-click menu shows. Unfortunately, this method of removing the panel launcher is intermittent.

This is a known problem with widgets that have different actions for a single click and a secondary click. At the moment there is no way to suppress the original single click, so both actions will be executed.

A similar problem exists with hyper-links in browsers. A secondary click on the link will open the context menu, but the original "long-click" will also trigger the link itself.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new enhancement request ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mousetweaks/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
