GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 641104
USB stick icon positioned over existing icon on desktop
Last modified: 2012-09-19 19:14:19 UTC
Once you insert a USB stick, an icon is added to the desktop which is basically a shortcut to the root directory of the USB stick. This icon is added to the top left of the desktop by default. However, if there already is an icon there (file/directory/shortcut), then the new icon is positioned over that and make it unusable. You will have to manually move the icons to solve this problem. Even if you use the Keep Aligned option for the desktop, this issue still happens. A typical solution will be to add the icon in a place where it doesn't overlap an existing item on the desktop. If keep Aligned is being used, then the new icon should also be aligned.
