Description Ray Holme 2011-01-30 13:30:23 UTC
When typing in an email name and name-completion shows up, all entries are shown twice (fedora core 14 - 2.32.1 evolution).

Not seen in prior releases.
Comment 1 André Klapper 2011-01-30 18:37:36 UTC
Cannot reproduce here. Have you checked your address books for duplicate entries, and have you made sure that this is not just the option to offer you several email addresses for the same person?
Comment 2 Ray Holme 2011-01-31 13:46:44 UTC
I would take a screen shot to show you what happens, but as soon as I go to the Application menu and or another window and try to type, evolution drops it's auto completion popup.

I can assure you that
  a) I do NOT have duplicate entries in my address book
it is the same address book as I used in FC12 and before FC8
(yes there were some additions and deletions if prior fedora core releases
but essentially - this stated when I upgraded to FC14)
     - the address book contains one entry per person
  b) if a person has two email addresses, both appear twice in the auto complete
form - e.g. I just typed "col" into a new TO mail
I get 8 entries in the popup - 4 for my son's two addresses and 4 for
the other two people who match "col" (i.e. 4 duplicates)

Please tell me if there is a way to give you a screen shot before it is lost
and I would be glad to send you my address book file (you can name it
or I can dig and find it). I will do any other reasonable thing to help you
find this. It is NOT critical but it is annoying.

Thanks for a bug report. I guess, when you go to Contacts view, that you'll see two On This Computer/Personal address books in there, which is a bug in migration, which was fixed before 2.32.2 release, but it doesn't fix the issue itself, you might fix it on your own.

But before that, do you see two On This Computer/Personal address books in your Contacts view?
Comment 4 Ray Holme 2011-02-23 19:33:04 UTC
OK, you are 100% right. On the contacts view. On the left hand side menu form, I see the "On This Computer" with a "Personal" folder in it TWICE.

How Do I remove one of these "address books" without losing both - they appear identical????

I see three entries - 1) New Address Boo; 2) Save as vCard; and 3) Properties

1+2 don't seem right, 3 does not get me near a delete menu.

Highlisting one of the address books and pressing delete does not do it either.

So How can I get rid of the ONE of the two duplicate books?

OK I think I may have fixed it. Edited preferences -> Contacts and UN-CLICKED one of the two personal books showing. That works, not sure if it a proper fix.
Comment 8 Milan Crha 2011-02-24 08:52:40 UTC
OK, that works too. Playing with gconf XML blobs is not that fun (I also updated the other bug).
