Description Towheed Mohammed 2011-01-24 17:04:53 UTC
Nautilus does not remember the Show Hidden Files setting under the View menu.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Nautilus. Go to the Home folder.
2. Click on Show Hidden Files under the View menu or press <Ctrl-H>.
3. Hidden files and folders in the Home directory are shown.
4. Close Nautilus and then open it again.
5. The Show Hidden Files is now unchecked.

Expected Results:

The Show Hidden Files option should still be checked.

Other Information:

This happens on 2.32.0 on Ubuntu Maverick. Also the opposite happens in 2.28 on Ubuntu Karmic, ie: The Show Hidden Files option is always checked.

I believe this is intentional.

The "Show Hidden Files" option in the View menu affects only the current view.

There is a "Show hidden and backup files" checkbox in the Preferences which controls the default for all new windows.

Correct, the analysis in comment #1 is how it's supposed to work.
Closing as NOTABUG.
