Checkbox: Do not show Daily Tips at Startup

I uncheck the "Show Daily Tips at Startup" yet the Daily Tips come back every time I start GnuCash.

Also when I change a checking register line, I get the uncheck box to "remember my decision" either for this session or forever, yet it doesn't remember the checkbox status.

I'm running Windows-7 [Note: When I use this same program at work on Windows-XP, it seems to work fine.]
