Description Chris Wilson 2011-01-16 12:11:32 UTC
Originally reported at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/587896

It can be verified in both Firefox and Chromium that images copied from the web to the clipboard can be pasted into image manipulation programs such as GIMP and Inkscape, but cannot be pasted into Nautilus as files. Files can however be dragged from the browser into Nautilus.

This behaviour is inconsistent with that in other programs where dragging-and-dropping and copying-and-pasting are interchangeable actions.

Proposed feature: the ability to pasted the contents of the clipboard into Nautilus. A dialogue window may be needed to determine the format in which to save the file.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version of Files (nautilus), then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
