Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Package: panel Version: 1.4.0.4 Severity: >Synopsis: Panel application dies at start of Gnome session... >Class: sw-bug System: Red Hat Linux 7.2 (kernel 2.4.7-10) on a Dell Optiplex GX400 1.4GHz P4 (512MB ram) >Description: I am receiving the following error as soon as I begin a Gnome session : 'Application "panel" (process nnnn) has crashed due to a fatal error. (Segmentation fault)' This error appeared immediately on a clean install (no upgrade) of RH7.2 on a Dell Optiplex GX400 1.4GHz P4 with 512 MB of ram. Linux is installed on /dev/hdb, 40GB. Video is an Nvidia GeForce 2 GTS (Linux is using the 'nv' driver), with a Dell FP1701 (using the analog interface - it has both interfaces). MS Windows2000/SP2 is installed on /dev/hda; GRUB is the boot manager. I previously had RH7.1 successfully installed on this machine and never encountered this error; as noted before, however, this was a *clean install*, not an upgrade from RH7.1. Hope you can help! thanks, - mt >How-To-Repeat: Begin a Gnome session. The problem is repeatable. ------- Bug moved to this database by unknown@bugzilla.gnome.org 2001-11-06 23:50 ------- The original reporter (mtruitt@nd.edu) of this bug does not have an account here.
