GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 639108
banshee always removes and readds 429 files from my android Galaxy S on sync
Last modified: 2020-03-17 09:00:55 UTC
Hi, I synced my banshee library to my android Galaxy S, which is connected in "usb-storage" mode. Then whenever I restart banshee and sync again, banshee always removes 429 files from the device, and then adds them back. No file has really changed in my collection. I ran banshee --debug, and this comes for each of those files when banshee adds them back to the device : [8 Debug 23:39:31.265] Copying Metadata to File Since Sync time >= Updated Time While I don't understand what it really means, this might well be the root of my problem. The problem was there with the stock Galaxy S, and is still there after the internal storage has been converted to ext4 (voodoo lagfix). I'm on debian sid, with banshee from experimental. Tell me if you need a full debug log or any more info. Thanks, -- Rémi
I'm not sure, but i can confirm this. I sync my Nokia N95 with help of .is_audio_player file and each time i plug it in Banshee deletes 32 tracks and than adds them again. Do you need debug log?
Same here, using Nexus S stock. However, it doesn't attempt to delete ALL the music, I have like 800+ ogg files, and as I am typing this it is deleting 300+ of them and copying them over again.
I have exactly the same problem. I store in flac and transcode to mp3. Thanks!
I'm also experiencing the same problem on my new Evo V (a rebranded Evo 3D) and it only seems to happen to subset of songs. (Those being my Mega Man X OC Remix albums.) I'll see if I can get a log showcasing the problem.
Created attachment 217957 [details] Banshee Debug Log Here's a log from an instance of Banshee where the issue comes up. I didn't use the --debug-sql option as that makes the log huge. (If you need one with the option enabled I'd be happy to upload it). I should note that I too, am converting my files from FLAC to OGG whenever I'm syncing. I've also found that for some reason, deleting my Banshee config in .config and then re-importing my main library seems to alleviate the problem. (That is, after rescanning my media library and then closing and opening Banshee up again and having it look at the files on my HTC Evo V, though I've only done limited testing.)
Banshee is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes more than three years ago. Its codebase has been archived. Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is being shut down) if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again. See https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/Infrastructure/issues/264 for more info.
