Description travismcgeehan 2011-01-06 01:21:18 UTC
When I import music into my library I get duplicates for almost all of the tracks - but occasionally one or two will import correctly. I use almost entirely aac and alac audio synced from my ipod touch. Simply importing any media will produce this duplication for me. I've had this bug my entire time using banshee - first with 1.9.0 and still with git master built yesterday. I am using ubuntu 11.04 64-bit on a brand-new atom netbook.

If it means anything the majority of the library was imported from an ipod touch. Also, The song and gb counts are both counting the duplicates. My actual library is 2.8 gb, but banshee says it's 5.4.

Thanks for reporting this. Do you have the Library Watcher extension turned on in Edit > Preferences > Extensions? If so, does Banshee still import the songs twice after you've turned the extension off? It's possible that Bug 614171 isn't limited to importing from CDs.
Comment 3 travismcgeehan 2011-01-11 03:01:12 UTC
Your right, the library watcher extension was causing the songs to have two entries in the library. When it was turned off, importing from the ipod worked correctly. Interestingly, if I import a song that's already in my music folder but not in my library, the entry is not duplicated.
Comment 4 Andrés G. Aragoneses (IRC: knocte) 2011-01-11 22:04:51 UTC
travis, do you get the behaviour only when importing from iPod or also from any other source?
Comment 5 travismcgeehan 2011-01-15 15:56:30 UTC
No, a regular "import media" does not cause this issue for me.
Comment 6 Andrés G. Aragoneses (IRC: knocte) 2011-01-15 15:59:36 UTC
Ok thanks.

Duplicate of #614171?

Banshee is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes more than three years ago. Its codebase has been archived.

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect
reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project
to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is being shut down) if anyone takes the
responsibility for active development again.
