GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 638227
Concept Guide §7.2: New Account Hierarchy menu command path and new file creation
Last modified: 2018-06-29 22:50:16 UTC
Section 7.2 Setting Up Accounts says to create a new account hierarchy, but it doesn't warn you that doing so will create a new GnuCash file to store that account hierarchy. The file you are already using will be closed and the new one opened. Related to that, the menu command to create a new account hierarchy in GnuCash 2.4 has been changed to File > New > New Account Hierarchy.

(In reply to comment #0) > Related to that, the menu command to create a new account hierarchy in GnuCash > 2.4 has been changed to File > New > New Account Hierarchy. Actually, the way to create a new file (and hence a new account hierarchy) used to be File > New > New File In 2.4 this has been renamed to File > New File There used to be a menu item File > New > New Accounts Page as well, but this had nothing to do with creating a new account hierarchy. This menu command has been moved to the View menu. It simply opens a new tab/window displaying the current file's account hierarchy. It doesn't add nor removes any Accounts.
Hi Geert, (In reply to comment #2) > [...] > Actually, the way to create a new file (and hence a new account hierarchy) used > to be File > New > New File > In 2.4 this has been renamed to File > New File It turns out I was mistaken about Actions > New Account Hierarchy.... That is the menu layout in 2.4.0. Marking this as resolved.
