Description Alexander van Loon 2010-12-20 10:54:50 UTC
On my desktop I have a photo as a wallpaper. If I want to create a screenshot of my desktop, the default PNG file format is quite suboptimal (I know it has it’s merits in other situations). Because it’s not suitable for photos it creates huge file sizes approaching ten times the size of JPEG file. Of course I can open the PNG file in GIMP and save it as a JPEG, but this requires some extra work. It would be easier if the screenshot utility offered an option to save the screenshot in the JPEG format.
