GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 637064
Let users re-arrange the layout in the Window mode
Last modified: 2012-10-31 09:58:32 UTC
Apart from the ALT-Tab keystrokes, users can go to the window mode to change to other applications, specially mouse-centric users. I really think that having a windows order designed by the user can improve a lot the task of accesing the applications this way. So, we can implement an order rule in the Window mode like this: 1) If you press an program icon in the Window mode, or in the Application mode, it will open after the last opened window 2) The user can re-arrange the order of the opened windows 3) The user can open a window from favorites in the place whatever she wants using DND

Interesting idea, and I see where you're coming from. I don't see it working though. First, the critical thing we need to do is make the window thumbnails as big as possible, and keep their position stable. I don't think a feature like this would help with that. Second, the primary purpose of moving windows would be to group them, and we already have workspaces for that, so I don't really see the demand. We can come back to this idea once we have the window selector in better shape. Until then, I think this has to be a wontfix.
