Description William Jon McCann 2010-11-20 20:45:52 UTC
It is very useful for an application to know the size of the usable area of the monitor (eg. for setting default sizes of widgets etc). Currently many apps just use the monitor size which isn't technically correct. Or if they want to monitor the workarea they need to check and monitor root window properties on their own.

Isn't this the same as bug 523574 ?

It is, as I mentioned to Jon on IRC. I'm still interested in it for Totem though.
