Description Allan Day 2010-11-16 13:20:36 UTC
The sound menu currently includes a piece of text which indicates volume levels and mute. It reads, for example, 'Volume: 87%', or 'Volume: Muted'. This is unnecessary: the information is already provided by the slider and switch widgets.

The extra text should be removed so that the string reads 'Volume' only. This would have the advantage of reducing the amount of visual noise in the menu.

As a side effect this would render bug 632738 obsolete.

Sound Menu: don't update the labels

Keep the labels fixed at "Volume" and "Microphone", as the volume
and mutedness are already communicated by the switch and slider.
