GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 634901
Resizing an image with alphachannel creates 1 pixel border down and right
Last modified: 2010-11-17 19:47:10 UTC
Windows XP/ Windows 7, Gimp 2.6.11 When i resize an image with an alphachannel i will get a one pixel border down and right. This border affects both, the invisible image part and the alphachannel. In my current case i have an alphachanneled PNG image of a barrel. I open it with Gimp, resize it with linear, bicubic or sinc lancosz3, and can see a border now down and right, with a transparency of 253 or 254. Nearly invisible, but just nearly. When i remove the alphachannel by the Levels tool i can see even more. A one pixel border in the colours of the content down and right is created too. See attached example images. This border makes massive trouble where i want to use the images. I cannot longer crop the images to just the visible part, because this by Gimp created border counts also as a visible part. I would have to delete this border at every image by hand. And i can`t even reach the part that is hidden by the alphachannel. This bug is a showstopper for me.

I was wrong. The bug was at my end. The source images already contains a one pixel border. So no wonder that i get an effect in the resized image. Haven`t noticed that before. Please close this bug report. It is a false one. Sorry for the trouble.
