Description Pavol Klačanský 2010-11-10 12:12:13 UTC
Hallo, ubuntu uses indicator-applet instead classical notification-area

Could you add it?
Comment 1 Aurimas Černius 2010-11-11 12:07:02 UTC
I am marking this as low priority, because:

1. Gnote icon should not be shown in notification area according to GNOME 3.0 recommendations.
2. This is Ubuntu specific.
3. Ubuntu will replace GNOME with Unity in next release. What will happen with indicator-applet then?
Comment 2 Pavol Klačanský 2010-11-12 17:27:53 UTC
3. Probably survive, I have no info about removing this feature
Comment 3 Danillo 2012-02-13 18:22:30 UTC
Ubuntu is removing Tomboy and Mono in 12.04, so eventually Gnote may replace it. Support for the indicator-applet would bring a better integration with the OS and make it a possible candidate for the default install, so this request seems very compeling.
Comment 4 Hubert Figuiere (:hub) 2012-02-13 18:24:32 UTC
If this is specific to Ubuntu then maybe Ubuntu should contribute. And PAY a developer to do it for them.
Comment 5 Hubert Figuiere (:hub) 2012-02-13 18:25:02 UTC
I means "OR" not "And"
Comment 6 Pavol Klačanský 2012-02-14 15:20:40 UTC
to Hubert:
Yeah, probably they should, but if they need to have it integrated, they will do it. But if developer wants to be integrated in Ubuntu (most popular distro), then why not to do it on his own? I doubt you are paid for C++ port of Tomboy, if so, then you are right.
Comment 7 Hubert Figuiere (:hub) 2012-02-14 17:04:20 UTC
If we wanted to go for "popular" we'd be porting to Windows.
Comment 8 Pavol Klačanský 2012-02-14 20:21:31 UTC
I would appreciate it ;-), but Ubuntu is becoming separate platform, it depends, what is your goal, I use tomboy and I am fine, so nevermind.
Comment 9 Aurimas Černius 2012-02-15 19:14:03 UTC
I still consider this as low priority.
There plenty of things to implement, that are useful for everyone, not just Ubuntu users.

And please, take political debates somewhere else.
Comment 10 Simón 2013-08-09 22:58:19 UTC
Gnote is defined in its wiki as "a port of Tomboy to C++".
Precisely this is its great advantage over Tomboy: lightweight and independent of mono.
Tomboy has integration with Unity, why would gnote not? Is it so difficult this enhancement?
Comment 11 Hubert Figuiere (:hub) 2013-08-10 00:42:04 UTC
Gnote as a port of Tomboy predate Unity. Since, it has evolved on its own path.

You can still provide a patch if it is that easy.
Comment 12 Aurimas Černius 2015-04-12 19:30:30 UTC
With tray icon removed, this one is sort of obsolete two.
It looks to be long enough no one had interest in implementing it.
Comment 13 Tomáš Hnyk 2015-04-13 08:42:42 UTC
Well, I would like to see it implemented, I only lack the skills. This is actually the only thing that keeps me using Tomboy.
