Description Xan Lopez 2010-11-07 20:05:40 UTC
It's (somewhat) common to set up the Windows key in keyboards to act as a sort of Compose key in order to be able to write a wider range of characters in a straightforward way. The Shell hardcodes this key for OS-like functions (zooming in/out to the overview at the time of writing), so any user setting wrt it is lost when using the shell. It would be nice to either have the Shell detect this and leave the key alone or to have a GSetting to toggle off this feature.

Looks like an enhancement request.

Should be set:
Severity=Enhancement, Priority=Normal.

Not actually hard-coded.

It can be configured with gconf-editor at
/apps/mutter/general/overlay_key
You may put "Dumb" there to disable overlay view triggering.
Or you may put "Menu" or "F12" there to use these keys for expoview.

True, but the setting is only respected for entering the overview. Dup'ing on a newer bug which has a patch.
