Oh, come on, there cannot be a translator comment on every single word in the sources. The source file name may give you a little bit clue for what is string used, and I suppose opening the source file and have a brief look on the line where the string is can give you enough information for proper translation.

comment #0: it's replaced with item type, whatever that means in the groupwise code.

With respect of comment #4, no way, it cannot be done, the %s is replaced with a widget, not with the text.
