GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 633198
Support opening multiple documents in one window (no tabs)
Last modified: 2018-05-22 14:02:57 UTC
Created attachment 173264 [details] opening multiple documents from a file manager Notice: see the attachements for a graphical explanation It would be nice if Evince could open multiple documents in one window. Current situation [attachement 1 + 2]: opening multiple documents at once results in multiple windows Mockup [attachement 1 + 3]: opening multiple documents results in one window showing all documents in the sidebar, enabling continuous reading: scrolling past the last page of the first document seamlessly reveals the first page of the next document. Additionally, the following features may be needed/useful: * opening and closing each document's bookmarks in the sidebar (as shown in attachment 3 [details]; dia-manual.pdf) * sorting the documents in the sidebar via drag'n'drop * drag'n'drop from the file manager into the sidebar * search through all documents at once This way, it would be possible to read series of PDFs without combining them into one file.
Created attachment 173265 [details] current situation: three independent instances
Created attachment 173267 [details] mockup: one instance showing the documents one after the other
*** Bug 661895 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Bug 661895 explicitly is about adding tabs; this one is about opening multiple documents in one instance without tabs. Thus, I think Bug 661895 is should not be a duplicate of this one here.
