Description Fabian Sturm 2010-10-23 18:02:12 UTC
Hi!

I would like to add a transition effect to the eog slideshow mode.
Unfortunately I am quite stuck, so I wonder if one of the devs would like to guide me.

Or is something similar already planned?

Thanks a lot
Fabian

Hi Fabian!

No, we haven't planned anything really specific yet for this matter. There was a Clutter-backend in the works that could do stuff like that, but it's pretty much put on hold at the moment.

In terms of guidance I'd like to ask you to handle this over our mailinglist (see http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/eog-list) where it is easier to handle/track this than over Bugzilla. There's also an IRC channel #eog on GimpNet, but I currently have a hard time following it (not sure about Claudio).

Possibly a good start would be if you could tell us where you are stuck right now.

Btw, if you have already started development with code from the 2.32 series you should switch to our master branch (what will become eog-3.0) where the drawing code has changed massively.

Adding dependency on the clutter backend bug. Fabian, you can check that bug for starters.
Comment 3 André Klapper 2021-06-19 08:47:43 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/eog/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
