If one enters a new custom-categorie in contacts, the new categorie is not shown.
If You change  'default="0"' to 'default="1"' for this Item in "/home/<user>/.evolution/categories.xml" Evolution behaves well.
I suggest, custom-categories should be set to  'default="1"' by default. Maybe there could be a checkbox to make the  'default="0"'-items visible in the editor.

I think this is already fixed in 2.32, but I can't seem to find the relevant bug.
