Description Casey Keller 2010-10-13 04:21:43 UTC
This bug was duplicated from askubuntu.com (http://askubuntu.com/questions/6665/banshee-wrong-play-queue-behavior).

I was able to duplicate the same response as the original poster.

When playing a Queue, the last song played is never marked as played. When you shift to shuffle mode from there, the final song in queue is next played when you click on Play Next Item. If you press Play Next Item again you get a random song. If you press Play Next Item again you get that final song in queue that was never maked as played.
Comment 1 Casey Keller 2010-10-13 18:49:44 UTC
After further examination, even after clearning the Queue and playing a new song. The original final song always follows. The final song is never taken out of Queue (despite not being visible).
Comment 2 Josh Holland 2010-10-29 05:25:00 UTC
I have the same problem in the version of Banshee included with Ubuntu 10.10 (1.7.6-0ubuntu1)
Comment 3 Oliver 2010-11-25 12:33:51 UTC
Can confirm it. See the same in version 1.7.x and 1.8.0.

Steps to reproduce:

1. populate play queue
2. press play
3. wait until play queue runs empty and playback stops
4. add some more songs to play queue
5. press play again

Then usually (quite randomly) one of the following things happens:

a. the last play song from the play queue is played again
b. the first song from the normal play list (not the play queue is played), followed by the new songs in the play queue
c. only the first new song in the play queue is played, then playback stops

I haven't yet had a chance to test any of the steps to reproduce this issue, but here are the steps as they're listed in the duplicate bug 642418:

1) select shuffle mode
2) add songs to play queue
3) during the last song, hit next several times (I have done this via the
'next' key on my keyboard)

The result is: a random song is played, then again the last song in the
queue, then a random song, then the last song in the queue

I can confirm this issue on Ubuntu Maverick and Natty beta 2, as well as Linux Mint 10. My current Banshee is 2.0.0.

In my case, shuffle mode is not involved.

I add several tracks to the queue. When they are finished playing I can either play a track from the main window or add a new track to the queue. When playing a track from the main window, the last track in the queue is played again immediately afterward. When adding a track to the queue, the last track in the queue is played again before the newly added track.

It's as if the queue's cursor is stuck on the last track instead of advancing to a position just beyond the last track in anticipation of the next track to be added.

I can confirm this as well -- still there in Ubuntu Oneiric, unless it's due to some stuck config file from a year or so ago when I migrated from Rhythmbox to Banshee. This has been reported for almost 1.5 years -- any chance of a fix? Thanks!
Comment 8 Everett Guerny 2013-08-31 21:39:29 UTC
This is still a problem in the latest version in Debian Testing (Banshee 2.4.1).
Comment 9 Andrés G. Aragoneses (IRC: knocte) 2013-09-01 07:45:09 UTC
Thanks Everett, changing version from 1.8.0 to 2.4.1. If you can test in 2.6.1, it is appreciated too.

Banshee is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes more than three years ago. Its codebase has been archived.

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect
reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project
to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is being shut down) if anyone takes the
responsibility for active development again.
