when you change your avatar for msn it is changed i.e. your contacts see the new avatar but the empathy's 'personal information' dialog does not show the new image. it only shows the stock person.

I can confirm that I am experiencing the same issue using the default Empathy install on my Maverick Meerkat installation.

the avatar is being changed. its just 'personal information' dialog does not show it but people think avatar does not change at all :(

i take my words back. seems like the feature did not work in lucid either. only empathy interface showed the change. there is a butterfly bug https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30624 closing this one
