GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 630824
Update oldish looking icons in cheese effects
Last modified: 2011-04-05 16:06:36 UTC
Created attachment 171268 [details] Cheese effects window looking outdated.. At present the cheese effects window has icons displaying smiles which look outdated. The smileys are over sized and words often run over the smileys. I'v worked on a new effects icon set, as a replacement for the earlier set. The smiley is from the new gnome-icon-theme2.30.

Created attachment 171270 [details] Screenshot of Efffects window with replacements..
Created attachment 171273 [details] Alternate layout of effects Also, i noticed that right now, the effect window dint /seem/ to have any logical arrangement. Maybe we could arrange them as? : Flips Color changes Major image distortions. What do you think? Oh! I havent done a replacement for the shagadelictv yet.
Created attachment 171304 [details] shagadelictv.png Just the old shagadelictv.png but same size as the rest of the new images
thanks a lot for your effort. however, 2.30.0 was the last release with the effect icons, as the the 3.0 version will feature a live preview. of course, if you want feel free to add your icons to the ubuntu version. i'm sorry!
Oh boo!!! ;p Nevermind.. if there is going to be any change in 2.32 you can use it in gnome as well. Since its quite late for Maverick now, I dont think this will be changed in Ubuntu now. Depending on Natty plans for gnome 3.0.. We might use it for Ubuntu. Closing bug for as obsolete.. Let me know if you use it in cheese ;-)
Well we could include them in a 2.32.1 point release so that they will enter automatically at least maverick and fedora 14. Not sure how that configures with regards to GNOME freezes, probably it would outdate screenshots in documentation but I don't think it would cause any harm. It would be a shame to let your cool work stay unused like this :)

Yeah, the effects window has that screenshot in help... but these changes aernt totally a huge difference, just a facelift.. But hey, we could ask the docs team to cut me some slack this one time.. :-D > It would be a shame to let your cool work stay unused like this :) thanks.. :) How do we get the exception for this?
you won't get an exception, especially not one which is modifying the documentation. although just including the icons shouldn't be a big problem
Created attachment 171340 [details] Complete replacement set of 12 (In reply to comment #9) > although just including the icons shouldn't be a big problem Oh! can we include it then.. ? I could selfishly use it in my system alone, but it would we nice if we could update it for all.. :) Attaching the complete set with all the icons matching up.
Created attachment 171351 [details] Updated Cheee-effects screenshot for use in documentation Documentation uses : /usr/share/gnome/help/cheese/C/figures/cheese-effects.jpg Edited the existing screenshot with the new images. So that the documentation screenshot also matches.
of course you can use your iconset if ubuntu does not upgrade to cheese 3.0. however we strongly encourage to use cheese 3.0 once we release it.
