Description Vish 2010-09-13 19:40:14 UTC
1: Add a new album with various artists
2: Browser view shows several "duplicate" albums with a single song in each of them.

This is because each song has a separate artist. But, this is confusing since they are all from the same album.

Workaround:
Select all the new songs and "Edit Track Information" > Check the "Compilation Album Artist" checkbox and save.

This is a bigger problem in several locales in Asia, since single artist albums are very rare.
This needs to be done manually every time we add a new album!

It would be better if banshee auto-detects such various-artist albums and automatically checked the "Compilation Album Artist" checkbox in Track Info, for all the songs in such albums.
[Maybe also checking if the album names are a match? and then auto-set the flag?]

Indeed, this is a confusing process that could probably use some adjustments. I left Bug 624311 open for brainstorming (and hopefully implementing) solutions to this issue. I'm marking this as a duplicate of 624311, and I'll copy and paste your comments there. Thanks!
